ABOUT
In an era characterized by rapid technological advancements, globalization, and
shifting economic paradigms, the future of work is consequently undergoing significant
transformations. The integration of artificial intelligence, automation, and digital platforms
has redefined traditional employment models, while new forms of work are emerging,
challenging existing labour markets and employment structures.
These developments present both opportunities and challenges for sustainable
economic growth. On one hand, the rise of the gig economy, remote work, and digital
entrepreneurship offers flexibility and new avenues for income generation. On the other
hand, they pose critical issues related to job security, income inequality, and the need for
reskilling and upskilling the workforce to adapt to changing demands.
Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated these trends, exposing
vulnerabilities in current employment systems and highlighting the importance of resilient
economic policies that support both traditional and emerging forms of work. As nations
strive to recover and build back stronger, there is an urgent need to explore how
employment and entrepreneurship can be advanced to foster inclusive and sustainable
economic growth.
The transition to a green economy is essential for sustainable economic growth.
Financing green projects—those that contribute to environmental sustainability, such as
renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly technologies—is crucial in this
transition. According to the Global Sustainable Investment Alliance, sustainable
investment reached $35.3 trillion in 2020, accounting for more than a third of all assets
under management. However, there is still a significant funding gap, particularly in
developing countries.
The future of work, entrepreneurship, and sustainability are deeply interconnected.
Sustainable economic growth requires a workforce that is adaptable, skilled, and capable
of driving innovation. At the same time, entrepreneurs must be empowered to create
businesses that not only generate economic value but also contribute to environmental and
social well-being.
To achieve the SDGs and building a sustainable future, the integration of work,
entrepreneurship, and green financing is essential. Hence, with the theme of “The Future
of Work: Advancing Employment and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic
Growth”, this conference will delve into these pressing issues, bringing together scholars,
policymakers, business leaders, and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of work.
